Muscat, Oman, 07 June 2020: Aster Al Raffah Hospitals and Clinics, one of the most prominent and largest private hospital establishments in Oman, the GCC and India, has launched Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Health. The initiative aims to provide free medical consultations and testing to residents of Wilayat Muttrah – a province of Muscat that has been hit particularly badly by the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative is aimed at providing the highest standards of care to residents whose access to medical services may have been disrupted due to the ongoing pandemic and subsequent restrictions to movement. The highly accessible service enables residents to consult expert medical professionals and share their Covid-19 related health concerns without having to visit a busy hospital.
Each day the clinic is staffed by a doctor, nurse, medical attendant, driver and several Aster Volunteers. The majority of people visiting the mobile bus are have come into direct contact with a Covid-19 patient or are suffering from a fever or cough.
Dr. Mazin bin Jawad Al-Khabouri, Director General, D.G. Private Health Establishments said: “We are fighting against the spread of Coronavirus to ensure that the citizens and residents of our country stay safe and healthy. Since the movement of people is restricted now, we are committed to doing everything we possibly can to continue to deliver the same high standard of healthcare. Through the Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Service, we can provide prompt consultation and care in the heart of the community.”
Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Service is a part of the Aster Volunteers - a corporate social responsibility initiative of Aster DM Healthcare that has impacted over 1.3 million lives. The initiatives launched by Aster Volunteers have been carried out in India, Ethiopia and Oman, as well as plans to launch in other GCC countries that Aster is operating in. In addition to the mobile clinic, Aster Volunteers will also be distributing food parcels to workers in labour camps around Muscat.
Dr. Ashendu Kumar Pandey, CEO of Aster Al Raffah Hospitals and Clinics, Oman said, “As one of the largest private hospital chains in the region, Aster is dedicated to offering its full support to assist the Oman Government in its ongoing fight against Covid-19. Our number one priority is to ensure the continued health of communities across Oman by delivering best-in-class healthcare services to those who need it most.
